Well it seems as though we’ve made it through. While some of us were lucky and never lost power and are homes are fine, there’s some very unlucky folks down on the shoreline, where the power is that least of their worries. But no matter what your situation is, there’s some things you should know about once the sky clears up.
If your home is in need of repair or maintenance after a storm like Sandy, the first thing you need to do before the clean up process begins is to take a solid inventory of your items and photograph anything for CT homeowners insurance documentation purposes. Once that’s complete, here’s a clean- up list of tips that will help you get back on your feet:
-Keep those battery-powered radios on hand to listen for any flooding or power updates.
-Use your fans, dehumidifiers and even cat litter to get rid of excess moisture in the home. To use the first two though, you’ll need some sort of power source.
-Take down wet wallpaper because this can be a paradise for mold and mildew to grow in.
-Make sure all surfaces and appliances that came in contact with any type of flood water with bleach or a common cleaning solution that contains bleach. You never do know what could be floating in that water.
Hopefully, you and your family made it through this storm without major problems, but if you did experience so significant damage, we hope these tips will help. Make sure to contact Paradiso Insurance for any claims you may have from this storm, and we will do everything to make sure that you are back to normal in the quickest way possible.
