While CT homeowners insurance is a policy that is extremely important to have for anyone who owns a home, knowing how to file a claim in the event of a loss is very important to know.  Additionally, we should know about the risks of filing too many claims against our home, as the more claims we file, the higher your premiums will rise,  since you’re a greater liability to insure.  To show you how to divert from this issue, we’ve laid out some ground work to help you out in this matter, starting with number three on our list:

(refer to yesterday’s blog for numbers 1 and 2)

3. Make sure to read your policy: Always, always, always make sure to read your policy before you file a homeowners claim.  If you have questions on some issues, call your agent to clear the air before you file.  You don’t want to file a claim and then later find out that it would have been easier, and cheaper, to simply fix yourself and pay out of pocket.

4.  Take inventory and document absolutely everything.  Make sure to track as much damage as you can, and then once you’ve filed a claim, make sure to write done your claim number and the insurance adjuster that is assigned to your case.  Make a habit of this, as if something were to arise, you’ll have all of the information you need.

Hopefully these tips will help you out down the road if you find yourself in need of filing a CT homeowners insurance claim.  Call Paradiso Insurance for any questions you have!
