As many of us know, our CT home insurance coverage will ensure that if anything happens to our home, or any of our possessions, that they’ll be covered and you’ll be reimbursed for their cost, according to your policy. While no two policies are the same and reimbursement differs for everyone, the moral of the story is that home coverage has your back in case anything happens. But did you know that this policy can cover you, even if you’re not even in your home?
That’s right, your CT home insurance will cover you or your belongings if something happens to you or them, and you’re not even on your property. How is that possible, you may ask? Well basically your home policy follows you where ever you go, which is called “off-premises.” Unless you decided against off-premises coverage, pretty much everything you own is covered no matter where you are.
Just make sure that you’re aware of your deductible. For instance, lost/ stolen luggage or stolen golf clubs are usually covered under your CT home insurance, but analyze which is worth the claim and what isn’t. For instance, there may be $600 worth of clothes in your luggage, but your deductible is $500, so it probably wouldn’t be worth it. But those stolen golf clubs that a probably a few grand, and your deductible is $250, then it’d be very beneficial for you to file a claim.
So while we most often think about fires or other types of disasters damaging or destroying your home when discussing CT home insurance, we may be unaware of the different ways that the coverage can help us when we’re no where near our homes. Look into this option like ‘off-premise’ if you aren’t sure if you have it. Can’t hurt?!
