During the winter, everyone seems to spread sickness a bit easier. This is especially notable for those of us with small children or for those of us that work in a tight and enclosed environment, such as an office. If you’re looking for tips on how you can focus on avoiding germs, you’ve come to the right place.

Preventing Spread of Germs

This winter, be sure to review this checklist with your friends and family, so you and the people around you can be sure not to spread communicable diseases:

  • When coughing, blowing your nose, or sneezing, be sure to cover your nose and mouth with a tissue.
  • Be sure to discard tissues in a trash with a lid if you are sick, or flush them down the toilet if you’re already in the bathroom.
  • Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing, or even blowing your nose to prevent the spread of germs.
  • If you have a cough or a fever, it’s best to stay home to prevent it from spreading.
  • See your doctor as soon as possible if your sickness escalates, and closely follow their instructions.

Keeping the Germs Away

You may not always be the one getting sick, but instead, there could be someone like a co-worker or family member who is sick close by. Here’s some tips on avoiding germs around you:

  • Always wash your hands before touching your eyes, nose, or mouth, and also before eating.
  • Wash your hands after touching or shaking hands with anyone who you may think might be sick.
  • Don’t share things like chapstick, toys, towels, or anything else with someone who may have a communicable disease.
  • Don’t share food, drinks, or their containers with others.
