Yesterday we discussed the why it is so important to prepare for winter, in the fall. This beautiful season gives us the chance to become accustomed to cold weather and furthermore allows us the opportunity to prepare such things as our cars and homes for another winter season.
So what then can we do to properly prepare our cars, trucks and SUVs for the winter months? Well before you do anything, the first step is to make sure that your CT insurance for all of your vehicles is taken care of. Once that’s complete, then you can begin these next few tasks:
1) Check your engine’s oil. This is the life blood of your car, and if it needs to be changed, do it sooner rather than later. Furthermore, make sure that you’re using the correct engine oil that’s suitable for the cold months of winter.
2)Engine Coolant- make sure that’s in good shape too. Now one might think that it’s a little redundant that you need to check your coolant when the outside temperatures are are ten degrees. But coolant also makes sure that your engine doesn’t corrode.
3 )Battery- need I say more? The capacity of your car battery is reduced during cold weather, so make sure that it, as well as cables and terminals are working well.
4)Snow Tires, because after last winter, we’re bound to have a lot of the white stuff this season. These tires will significantly increase your traction and improve your overall handling when driving in the snow.
We have even more tips for you to winterize your car, but you’ll have to come back tomorrow to find out what they are!
