The 4th of July is a day to celebrate American Independence. From 1776 until now, this day has been recognized as the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation. Before the Declaration was even signed, John Adams envisioned a festival accompanied by fireworks to promote victory of independence. As a matter of fact, on July 4, 1777 the first firework show was held.It was the start of a revolution. Madison’s Independence Parade & Firework Show.
In Madison, there will be a parade starting at Stop and Shop and continuing west to the Surf Club at 11 a.m. It will involve many attractions that all different ages can enjoy such as; floats, music/performance groups, classic cars, and clowns. Later on at 9:30 p.m. fireworks will light up the town at the Madison Surf Club.
Mystic’s Independence Day Celebration.
The annual parade begins at 1 p.m. and marches through the village at Mystic. Afterwards, a laid back concert will be held by a local band. There will be different old fashioned activities that take you back in time.
